SIMBOLOGIA

Simbologia é a ciência que estuda a origem, a interpretação e a arte de criar símbolos. Todas as sociedades humanas possuem símbolos que expressam mitos, crenças, fatos, situações ou ideias, sendo umas das formas de representação da realidade. Não se deve restringir este item ao Simbolismo, pertencente à literatura brasileira.

De acordo com Cornelius Castoriadis e Gilbert Durand, é através da representação simbólica que nos apropriamos do mundo.

• SemióticaA simbologia é o estudo dos símbolos ou o conjunto destes. Um símbolo, por outro lado, é a representação sensorial de uma ideia que guarda um vínculo convencional e arbitrário com o seu objecto.
  A noção de simbologia é utilizada para fazer referência ao sistema dos símbolos que identificam os diferentes elementos de algum âmbito. Neste sentido, pode-se falar, por exemplo, da simbologia electrónica (com os ícones ou as representações gráficas que permitem reconhecer cada elemento interveniente).
  A electricidade, a química e a mecânica, entre outros âmbitos do conhecimento, têm a sua própria simbologia. Quem conhece a simbologia de uma especialidade, pode expressar-se através dos símbolos e interpretar diagramas ou esquemas que recorram a símbolos em vez de palavras.
  É possível classificar a simbologia de acordo com o seu objecto de estudo ou a área de incumbência. A simbologia maçónica analisa os símbolos dos maçons e revela as mensagens fechadas em cada um deles. A simbologia religiosa, por outro lado, estuda os símbolos que intervêm numa crença ou prática de uma religião.
  A simbologia de um país diz respeito a todos os símbolos que permitem reflectir a identidade nacional. O hino nacional, a bandeira e o escudo são exemplos de símbolos que fazem parte da simbologia de um país.
  A simbologia esotérica, por fim, inclui os símbolos do tarot, do I Ching, da cabala e de outras correntes do pensamento e da fé. Também se pode falar de simbologia pagã, simbologia satânica, simbologia românica e outros tipos de simbologias.
